Rep. Scott Holcomb and Sen. Nan Orrock Join 10 Fellow State Legislators in Endorsing Carolyn Bourdeaux for GA-07
A majority of Democratic state legislators representing parts of GA-07 have endorsed Bourdeaux
Suwanee, Georgia -- Today, State Representative Scott Holcomb and State Senator Nan Orrock announced their endorsements of Carolyn Bourdeaux for Georgia’s 7th Congressional District.
Holcomb has represented Georgia’s 81st House district, which includes parts of Gwinnett County, since 2011. Orrock has represented Georgia’s 36th Senate District, which encompasses parts of Atlanta, since 2007; she previously represented Georgia’s 58th House District from 1987 to 2007.
A majority of the Democratic state legislators representing parts of GA-07 have endorsed Bourdeaux for Congress. Holcomb joins fellow legislators for Gwinnett County in supporting Bourdeaux, including Reps. Jasmine Clark, Shelly Hutchinson, Gregg Kennard, Dewey McClain, Donna McLeod and Senator Sally Harrell. Senator Elena Parent and Reps. Pat Garnder, Park Cannon and Mary Margaret Oliver are also backing Bourdeaux.
“Carolyn has proven that she has what it takes to win this seat and I’m proud to support her,” said Rep. Scott Holcomb. “I’ve known her since before she entered politics, and I was thrilled when she ran in 2018. Thanks to her strong campaign and work to bring our area’s communities together through grassroots organizing, she made this race far closer than it’s ever been. Now, I’m confident that she will finish the job in 2020. She will be a terrific legislator and a strong voice for the 7th Congressional District.”
In her earlier endorsement, Rep. Donna McLeod said Bourdeaux is the strongest candidate to win this seat:
“In 2018, Carolyn ran for Congress and made it clear that victory was in reach for the Democratic Party,” said Rep. Donna McLeod. “Now, with the 2020 election approaching, we need to ensure that we have a formidable candidate like Carolyn in the 7th Congressional District, and that is why I’m endorsing Carolyn Bourdeaux for Congress.”
“We are building a campaign focused on delivering results for the 7th district, and I’m honored to have so many local leaders by my side,” said Carolyn Bourdeaux. “For too long, we've had a Congressman who doesn't share our values and who hasn’t fought on our behalf. In this election, I’m confident that voters will reject the new extreme Republican agenda and instead will choose new leadership, and I look forward to getting the job done for them.”
