Carolyn Bourdeaux picked up a key endorsement in her bid for the 7th Congressional District seat that will be open in 2020.

U.S. Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., has endorsed Bourdeaux, who is one of two Democrats who have announced bids for the seat. U.S. Rep. Rob Woodall, R-Ga., announced earlier this month that he will not seek re-election to the seat next year, leaving it wide open.

The endorsement wasn’t the only news to come out of Bourdeaux’s camp this past week. In addition to formally announcing her candidacy for the seat, Bourdeaux also announced that her campaign raised more than $100,000 in one week after news broke on Feb. 7 that she was preparing to formally announce her candidacy.
