Georgia Doctors & Nurses Endorse Carolyn Bourdeaux's Campaign for Congress
"Doctors & Nurses for Carolyn" launches to endorse Bourdeaux and her fight for affordable, quality health care
SUWANEE, GA — Today, a coalition of Georgia health care professionals endorsed Carolyn Bourdeaux's run for Congress and her commitment to fighting for affordable, quality health care and protecting patients with pre-existing conditions.
The "Doctors & Nurses for Carolyn" coalition launched today includes doctors, nurses, and health care professionals from a range of backgrounds, including MDs, RNs, DOs, OBGYNs, nurse practitioners, infectious disease specialists, emergency medicine physicians, endocrinologists, community health center workers, and more. Carolyn got into this race because of health care — in Congress, she will protect the Affordable Care Act, go to bat for people with pre-existing conditions, and fight to bring down the costs of insurance and prescription drugs.
"I'm honored to have the support of so many doctors, nurses, and health care professionals in Georgia," said Carolyn Bourdeaux. "These doctors and nurses are on the front lines of this pandemic, and their jobs are made harder because of politicians who spread misinformation and failed to protect us. In Congress, I'll listen to the medical experts, fight to bring down the cost of prescription drugs, and work hard to ensure everyone can afford to go to the doctor to get the care they need."
"As a physician serving patients in Georgia's 7th Congressional District, I trust Carolyn to fight for a health care vision that best serves this diverse and wonderful community," said Beth Atkins, MD. "I know Carolyn will support policies that will help me provide the best care for my patients in this district, and I'm proud to support her."
Rich McCormick has repeatedly called for repealing the Affordable Care Act in its entirety, a move that would end protections for people with pre-existing conditions and put health care for millions of Georgians at risk. He has repeatedly followed President Trump's lead on downplaying the seriousness of the COVID-19 pandemic, spread misinformation about the deadly disease, and challenged the experts. McCormick was also characteristically silent in face of Trump administration attacks on the CDC, refusing to stand up for Georgia’s world-class doctors and researchers.
