That's Rich: After Pledging to Repeal Health Care, McCormick Scrubs Website
McCormick in the primary: “Healthcare is a mess. Obamacare was a disaster”
McCormick now: “We have the best healthcare system in the world”

SUWANEE, GA — Today, GA-07 Republican nominee Rich McCormick was revealed to have scrubbed his website after describing the Affordable Care Act as “a disaster” and repeatedly pledging to “fully repeal” and “dismantle” the health law and the protections it provides for people with pre-existing conditions during his primary.

For months after the June primary, McCormick's "Issues" page led to a "404 Not Found" page. Now, it's back up with some conspicuous changes, per National Journal’s Kirk Bado:

With 54 days until Election Day and just weeks before early voting begins, Rich McCormick’s extreme agenda to repeal health care is bombing with 7th District voters — leading three major non-partisan election forecasters to shift the race to Leans Democratic.

His underfunded campaign flailing and facing a new ethics complaint, McCormick may want to repent for his radical pledges less than two months before Election Day but his record is crystal clear. In a candidate survey, McCormick responded "Yes" to the question, "Will you support legislation to fully repeal ObamaCare and oppose efforts to give the federal government more control of health care?" And he responded "Yes" when the Atlanta Journal-Constitution asked if he supported "dismantling the Affordable Care Act" in May.

Democratic nominee for Georgia’s 7th Congressional District Carolyn Bourdeaux released the following statement:

“As we face this pandemic, access to affordable health care is more important to Georgians than ever before, but Rich McCormick repeatedly pledged to dismantle the health care laws protecting people with pre-existing conditions. Rich McCormick’s dangerous agenda is so extreme that he’s pledged to repeal the entire Affordable Care Act, which would throw thousands of Georgians off their insurance and allow insurance companies to discriminate against people who get sick. With a record like that, no wonder he’s trying to hide his radical views from voters.”

Carolyn Bourdeaux is a Professor at the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, the daughter of teachers, a wife and mom, and a public servant who is running for Congress to fight for quality, affordable health care, a world-class education and a government that works for the people. She was the 2018 Democratic nominee for Georgia’s 7th Congressional district, coming within 433 votes of flipping the seat, making it the closest U.S. House race nationwide.

Georgia’s fast-changing 7th Congressional District includes portions of the northeast Atlanta metropolitan area, including portions of Forsyth and Gwinnett counties and cities Peachtree Corners, Berkeley Lake, Sugar Hill, Norcross, Cumming, Lawrenceville, Duluth, Snellville, Lilburn, Suwanee, Grayson, and Buford. Highly watched by national media, this district has emerged as one of the top Democratic pick-up opportunities in the country.
